Highways Services are asking drivers to allow extra time for their journeys in the Ballasalla area.
A number of complaints were received about traffic delays at Glashen Hill due to temporary traffic lights on an adjacent housing project in the area.
In a social media post, the Highways Services said: 'We have liaised with the lighting contractor and have established that the lights are set for the maximum ”green” times and adapt to the flow of traffic and any queues through use of Doppler radar. The system has been optimised for the site and is considered to be more efficient than manually operating lights, even at peak times.
'We understand that the lights will be in operation for up to two weeks.
'We would ask the public to be patient and take these works into an account and allow a little extra time for your journeys.'
