Roads Policing Unit arrest driver with no insurance and failure to stop

Police officers from the Roads Policing Unit and Operational Support Group have arrested a driver in Douglas last night for failing to stop, no insurance and suspended driving whilst unfit.

Kensington Road in Douglas was closed to traffic for a time last night whilst officers tried to block the driver in for arrest.

The RPU are currently conducting their annual winter checks, which over the past few weeks has seen numerous vehicles with defects reported.

Michael Taylor from the Roads Polcing Unit spoke to Energy FM about the Force's ability to seize vehicles without insurance, or that are unfit for the road:
