A report has been received by the Wildlife Crime Unit that a pigeon has been found with a home-made blow dart embedded in its wing.
The bird was recovered in the Pulrose area on Sunday and is now recovering well.
Police say that not only is it an offence to intentionally kill or injure a bird without lawful authority, but possession of a Blow Pipe in a public place is also an offence.
