Isle of Man Samaritans is reaching out to local companies to help improve the emotional wellbeing of staff in the workplace.
The local branch is offering to deliver free, informative and thought-provoking workshops to local businesses, and present packs to employees with information about wellbeing. The sessions will focus on building resilience, the need to look out for yourself and each other, the importance of emotional wellbeing and remind staff that Samaritans is available 24/7 should anyone need help or support.
Alternatively, an informal chat between a Samaritans volunteer and a company representative can also be arranged.
Discussions can be adapted to suit the needs of the business, with a focus on the signs of someone struggling and what an employer can do to help in that situation.
Lesley Moughtin from the Isle of Man branch of Samaritans explained: ‘We want to encourage local people to look out for friends, family, colleagues and peers. With additional pressures in modern day life both inside and out of the workplace, we all need to keep an eye on one another.
‘This can all have a huge impact on people’s mental health. We want to spread the message that we’re here 24/7 and available to chat regardless of what they’re going through. It’s also important that people are looking out for each other too, particularly in the lead up to the festive season, the hardest time of the year for some.’
