Alexander Drive roadworks over three days from tomorrow
Tue, 03 Dec 2019
Roadworks will take place from tomorrow until Friday on Alexander Drive in Douglas to apply high friction surface treatment on the road near to pedestrian crossings.
The Department of Infrastructure are advising the public that the road will remain open, but will be reduced to single carriageway at places, controlled by traffic lights.
Works will start at 9.15am each day to avoid conflict with commuters and school traffic.
One of the two crossings will remain operational at all times during the works.
The DOI said that while it may appear traffic restrictions are in place when work isn't ongoing, it's a necessary part of the process to test the surface without being trafficked.
The new surfacing is designed to increase the friction value of the road. and is a safety feature linked to the redesigned junction and crossings in the vicinity of Westminster Terrace.
