Road racing GPS tracking to have 'switch off' feature for fatal accidents

The Department for Enterprise Minister has said the new GPS tracking technology to be introduced for 2021 road racing events will not inform fans of fatal accidents during events in real time.
It was announced last month that Luxembourg company NTT would deliver live tracking services for competitors in the TT, Classic TT and Manx Grand Prix, having tested the GPS system on the Mountain Course.
In the original announcement, the DfE stated the service: 'will give real time data from any point around the circuit, made available to race fans via the official IOM TT website'.
However Laurence Skelly MHK has stated in the event of a fatal accident during an event, there would be a 'switch off' mechanism the Clerk of the Course would be able to activate, delaying the tracking if they detect an incident would occur.
