VisitIOM.co.uk has launched a direct flight from Denmark to the Island with Alsie Express airlines.
They announced that the new flight from Sønderborg in Southern Denmark will depart on 21st May 2020 direct to Ronaldsway, carrying 64 Danish passengers on board an ATR72 aircraft.
Recognising how important new air routes are for growing the Island’s visitor economy, Visit IOM has supported the new initiative.
VisitIOM, which is part of the Department for Enterprise, hopes to further strengthen its partnership and awareness of the Island to this new market in order to explore a second departure in Summer 2020 to meet demand.
Mann Link Travel’s CEO and Chairman Brian Kelly met with Alsie Express CEO Dennis Rybasch recently in Denmark to complete the deal for a small number of direct flights not only into the Isle of Man, but also Jersey and Guernsey in 2020.
He said: 'We hope we can expand on what is an initial one-off departure in 2020 to a number of flights in 2021 if the Island proves popular and demand is strong. Our Isle of Man visitors will be the first overseas arrivals into Sønderborg with Alsie Express which is creating quite a stir locally and getting great levels of exposure.
'Sønderborg is located very close to Northern Germany so the potential to attract German visitors to the Island is very real and something we are keen to explore.'
