Mec Vannin to hold annual Illiam Dhone Commemoration

An annual commemorative event to remember the life of a Manx patriot will be held next week.

Political party Mec Vannin will host an event at Hango Hill, Derbyhaven on 2nd January at 2pm dedicated to Illiam Dhone, also known as William Christian.

He was executed, ordered by the 8th Earl of Derby, in 1663 by firing squad on this date at the site.

Mec Vannin's Chairman, Mark Kermode, will introduce the event in Manx and English and then Devon Watson (Climate Change Coalition and Fare Free Campaign) will speak in English followed by Paul Craine, also in English.
