The Met Office has issued an Amber weather warning for strong winds and coastal overtopping today.
Severe Gale force winds with gusts of up to 70 mph are expected to hit the Island from late morning until late afternoon.
Heavy rain will accompany the Severe Gale force winds and while amounts of rain will not be significant it will make driving conditions treacherous for a time, especially high sided vehicles.
The wind will veer and slowly start to ease from late afternoon.
Ronaldsway Met Office are also warning of coastal overtopping which will affect Shore Road – Rushen, Castletown Promenade, all of Douglas Promenade but with significant issues from Central Prom to Summerland. Laxey Promenade and to a lesser extent Ramsey Promenade.
