Suspicious package safely removed from IOMPO

Police have confirmed that a suspicious package has been safely removed by specialist teams from the UK.

 

This morning teams from the Ministry of Defence arrived at the Isle of Man Post Sorting Office, Spring Valley Industrial Estate in Douglas.

 

The suspect package was safely secured and removed by the unit and is now being transported back to England for safe disposal.

 

The cordon surrounding the sorting office has been removed and normal operation of the sorting office has resumed.

 

Police are reassuring the public that the appropriate procedures for incidents of this nature were being followed and the safety of the employees of the IOMPO Sorting Office and the general public remains a priority.
