Island police officers have completed a child seat installation training scheme and can now train members of the public.
Community Road Safety Officers have now carried out their IOSH accredited child car seat training and are holding their first Car Seat Clinic on Monday 17th February at Douglas Fire Station, Peel Road from 10 am to 4 pm.
IOM Constabulary said on the scheme: 'We know that car seat checking services are very much needed on the Isle of Man with our earlier research showing that more than half of parents surveyed don’t feel they have enough information about what car seat they should be using for their child nor how this should be fitted properly.
'This was borne out when we commissioned a car seat checking expert to visit for a one day fit and check event and out of the 57 car seats checked, just under 70% had fitting errors.'
Anyone interested in attending the course needs to pre-book by emailing berni.kneale@gov.im, or call 631543.
You can also speak to the team for advice at the Isle of Man Bump, Baby and Toddler Show at the Villa Marina on Sunday 23rd February from 11 am until 4 pm.
