School pupils could be forced with no option but to return home from school on Monday (24th) lunchtime due to 'action short of strike action' from teachers.
The National Association of Headteachers and the National Association of Schoolmasters / Union of Women Teachers have announced that there will be disruption on Monday 24th February to schools across the Island.
It's following ongoing disputes between the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL), the NAHT, NASUWT and the Department of Education Sport and Culture over teacher's pay.
Advice has been issued to parents from numerous schools, including St Ninian's High School, Ballakermeen, Ramsey Grammar School and Henry Bloom Noble Primary School.
Henry Bloom Noble Primary said in their letter to parents: 'At present, senior leadership teams are still voluntarily covering lunchtimes, however, if the action escalates and this cover is removed, parents will probably be asked to take children home for lunch for health and safety reasons.'
Onchan Primary has sent out a letter to parents informing them that their Year 6 pupils will no longer be able to have their weekly swimming lesson due to the ongoing industrial action from 24th February.
The school said that although the public was told the action would not impact on pupils learning, Year 6 will no longer have access to their lesson whilst years 3 to 5 will.
