Work on upgrading the drainage system on the A3 Ramsey to Castletown Road will begin later this week.
The Department of Infrastructure says the work will deal with the constant problem of surface water at Creg Willey's Hill.
Highways workers will be installing additional road gullies and linking them to the existing piped system.
The work is expected to take around two weeks to complete.
A temporary speed limit and two way traffic lights will be in operation during the works.
