Scam Alert: Person claimed to be from Department of Health

Police have issued a warning after an incident in Ballasalla last week.

Officers say it happened on Friday in the Clagh Vane Estate.

An unknown person approached the open rear door on a property, did not enter but knocked on the door.

The resident came to the door and the person stated that they were from the Department of Health and were there to sanitize the house.

The quick thinking resident said that he would ring the housing department first as he had not received any notification of the visit. The person then said that they would go and get their tools and equipment from their vehicle, but instead drove off.

Malew Parish Comissiones are asking all residents to be vigilant and do not let anyone in to their home without prior knowledge/checking their identification.
