Firefighters tackle gorse fire

Firefighters were called to tackle a gorse and heath fire in the west of the Island earlier.

Crews from Peel and Douglas were sent to Starvey Road at just after 7.30am.

They were faced with approximately 50 x 25 metres of vegetation on fire. Hose reels, main jets were used to extinguish the fire.

Officers spent around two hours at the scene to prevent the flames from spreading further.
