Efforts to encourage development in Castletown 'waste of time' says commissioner

The chairman of Castletown Commissioners has called for a public inquiry, after efforts to encourage new development in the ancient capital ‘have failed’.
It comes after a planning appeal by the local authority, and developer Hartford Homes, over the refusal of a new 48-home estate at Knock Rushen, was turned down.
It’s one of several areas earmarked for development in ‘the Castletown Housing Land Review’, a process which was supposed to help encourage developers to build new homes.
But the review was ‘a waste of time, effort and resources’ according to Castletown Commissioners chairman Richard McAleer, who spoke to Local Democracy Reporter Ewan Gawne:
