The future of postal services in Ballasalla appears to have been decided, after it was announced the Spar in Clagh Vane will be the new provider.

 

Starting today, customers will be able to collect parcels from the shop, with the installation of a self-service kiosk due ‘when it’s safe’.

 

Spar won the tender to operate postal services after the village post office, a counter in the newsagents, shut in March.

 

It’s loss, and the subsequent move to a self-service kiosk, was met with anger by many local residents.

 

Local Democracy Reporter Ewan Gawne asked chair of the Isle of Man Post Office Julie Edge to explain why Spar in Clagh Vane was the right home for Ballasalla’s new postal operations:
