A GP from the Isle of Man has set a fundraising target of £1,000,000.
Martin Rankin who works for the Manx Emergency Doctors' Service says he want's to raise the money for families of key healthcare works who have lost their lives during the coronavirus pandemic.
More than 90 frontline NHS workers have died in the last month.
Yesterday, the UK Health Minister Matt Hancock announced families of NHS and social care workers who have died after contracting coronavirus in the course of their duties will receive a £60,000 payment from the taxpayer.
Dr Rankin says the money raised will be shared between their families.
