A former health minister has launched a scathing attack on Howard Quayle following his decision to sack Chris Thomas as Policy and Reform Minister.
News broke on Wednesday night that Mr Thomas had been dismissed for voting against the government on a planning matter, which went against the Council of Ministers’ code of collective responsibility.
The Douglas Central MHK also abstained on a vote to close the Island’s borders in March, with the chief minister saying in a statement last night he “no longer had full confidence” in Mr Thomas.
Liberal Vannin leader Kate Costain was Health Minister in the Quayle administration from October 2016 to January 2018 before being sacked.
She’s called the decision to dismiss Mr Thomas as “crazy”, saying “only an idiot” would make such a call in the middle of a global pandemic.
Ms Costain told Energy FM she believes something has happened behind the scenes:
