Twenty-six students have completed the first part of the Sure Sports Leader Programme, learning to coach young people in a safe and fun sporting environment.
The week-long course at the National Sports Centre in Douglas was delivered by the Manx Sport and Recreation (MSR) team.
During the course students gained nationally recognised qualifications in first aid, safeguarding and protecting children, as well as acquiring skills in communication, time management and session planning. Under supervision from experienced staff, the students will now help with MSR's Summer Sports Programme to put their new skills into action.
The award has been written as an NVQ Level 2 course and MSR hope to gain external accreditation to deliver future awards as NVQ qualifications, further strengthening the quality of the programme and the appeal to the Island's students.
