A data breach has been reported within a company on the Island.
Elite Comms Group has written to customers about a breach which potentially included personal data.
The company operates Wi-Manx and offers broadband, cloud space and even security protection.
Mark Ashcroft, Data Protection Officer said: "On the 16th September an employee was a recipient of a phishing email which compromised four internal email accounts. There is no indication of traditional data theft or the distribution of ransomware. However, where mailboxes were compromised, historic emails may have been read and it would be reasonable to assume emails within said mailboxes can no longer be considered to have remained private."
"The data accessed may have included personal information such as your name, contact email, your email signature containing contact numbers and information you have shared with us about your business in order for Elite Comms Group to fulfil its service obligations."
"We have advised the Information Commissioner in the IOM and will undertake any steps that they request us to take".
Customers have been warned they should consider changing any system or device passwords as a precaution and conducting security checks on devices.
Elite Comms Group have been approached for further comment.
