Police are warning of a new phone scam after a member of public lost thousands of pounds.
The force says it has recieved multiple reports of the scam, which involves a female or male caller ringing residents on an unknown number.
The caller(s) have been both male and female and have been calling residents on an unknown number stating they are the fraud department at the bank and a large amount of their money has been spent at places such as Harrods or John Lewis which they are investigating.
They are then asking people to transfer large amounts of money from one of their accounts to another internal account to keep it ‘safe’.
Police have said no to do this and hang up the phone.
