New vaccine is a "game changer" says Public Health Director

The island’s public health director says the new Covid-19 vaccine is a ‘game changer.’

The Oxford/AstraZeneca jab was approved for use in the UK yesterday.

It’s delivered in the same way as the Pfizer vaccine but it doesn’t have to be kept at sub-zero temperatures. 

Vaccinations begin in the island next week and supplies of the new jab will arrive when it becomes available.

Dr Henrietta Ewart says it’s important the community stays Covid-free while the vaccination programme is delivered.
