McCanney out of Dakar after mechanical problems strike.
Isle of Man Enduro Rider Jamie McCanney, has been forced to retire form the Dakar Rally.
McCanney was up in 19th position after 4 stages of 12, when he suffered mechanical problems on the special section.
As he was unable to fix the issues, which must be attended to without outside assistance, he was forced to pull out of the event.
Posting on his Fan Page, Jamie said
“Sadly my Dakar 2021 is over 7 days earlier than expected due to a technical issue L
Thank you to everyone who supported me over these past 5 days and if you know me you know I would have done anything to stay in the race but sometimes it’s out of your control and today was one of those days.
Thanks to all the team for their hard work and let’s keep pushing!”
The Dakar Rally is being held solely in Saudi Arabia this year because of covid-19. The event usually takes place across a number of countries and frontiers.
Fellow Manxman David Knight is continuing his campaign in the event. Knight is currently in 40th position after 5 Stages.
