People are being urged not to stockpile medicines during the current COVID-19 lockdown.
The Isle of Man Pharmacy Contractors Associations says community pharmacies on the Island are working tirelessly to ensure that everyone’s medicines and healthcare needs are met.
Pharmacies are currently still operating an ‘open door’ policy, but have taken a number of measures to try and keep both patients and pharmacy staff as safe as possible.
People are encouraged to wear a face covering when in the pharmacy, use hand gel provided before entering and observe the social distancing guidelines the pharmacy has in place.
Community pharmacist and spokesperson for the IOM Pharmacy Contractors Association Ian Hemensley explained: “Community pharmacy teams are an important part of the NHS team and like all NHS workers we are under huge pressure at the moment.
We are asking people to take some simple steps to help protect our pharmacy teams so that we can continue to carry out their critical roles and ensure that everyone continues to be able to obtain the medicines, help and support they need, when they need it."
