House of Keys sitting to be 'virtual today' says Watterson

Tue, 02 Mar 2021

Today's House of Keys sitting will be virtual due to a number 'unexplained' coronavirus cases.

Speaker Juan Watterson also said the public should ‘not attend legislative buildings’.

Posting on social media, Mr Watterson said: "Staff do not have the equipment set up and tested and this may take some time tomorrow. It may be that we will delay the start of the sitting to allow for this, however this would have the advantage of allowing Members the chance of hearing the press briefing at 10am. I will need to consult staff on this in the morning. Similarly a decision regarding the sitting of Legislative Council scheduled for 10.30 tomorrow will be made by the President."

Chief Minister Howard Quayle will address the nation at 10am. He is expected to announce a series of restrictions which will come into affect later.

You'll be able to watch the briefing live on our Facebook page and website.
