Unsafe building shuts section of Ramsey high street

Thu, 06 May 2021

An emergency road closure is in place in Ramsey to investigate the structural safety of a property.

A section of Parliament Street has been closed to assess Auldyn House.

Planning consent had been obtained for the refurbishment of the building, which has frontages to Parliament Street and West Quay, and internal works commenced, however concerns about the safety of the building have been raised by the contractor on site following the recent removal of a section of loose masonry from the Parliament Street elevation.

The closure will be in place to protect the public from danger whilst the building is inspected by Structural Engineers and whilst any subsequent works to make the building safe are undertaken.

An alternative route for traffic will be via Tower Street and Water Street.
