Isle of Man Women’s Representative Football Team Manager Brian Cowin is to step down from his role.
Brian has been in position since early 2018 during which time the highlight of his term was leading the squad to success at the Ynys Mon football tournament in June 2019, a competition organised after football was left out of that year’s Island Games. The Isle of Man team claimed gold after an excellent 2-1 victory against hosts Ynys Mon at the Holyhead Stadium.
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, there have been no representative games since then and the next Island Games – in Guernsey – has been moved to summer 2023.
Brian commented: ‘When I took on the job, my main objective was for players to put aside club loyalties and form a united squad, which I think we achieved.
‘I feel like this is the right time to step down and for a new manager to start preparing a squad for 2023.’
