Moving an 18th century schooner back to the Nautical Museum in Castletown is expected to cost more than £5million.
The Peggy was removed for conservation work in 2015 after being housed in what were described as ‘appalling conditions’.
Manx National Heritage Chairman Jonathan Hall says a purpose-built facility is needed before the boat can be returned.
A motion is going before Tynwald on Tuesday to set out a detailed timeline for the Peggy to be put back in the Nautical Museum.
It follows a recent campaign calling for more detail to be provided on why the boat, made for prominent banker and MHK George Quayle, had been absent from what some saw as her ‘rightful home’ for so long.
