Fundraising campaign to help ensure poorer countries get a fair share of Covid-19 vaccines

Thu, 20 May 2021

A campaign is being launched to encourage people on the Island to help provide Covid-19 vaccines for poorer countries around the world by holding jumble sales and other fundraising events.

The One World Centre ‘Jumble for Jabs’ will kick off with a jumble sale at Promenade Methodist Church, Douglas, from 10.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday 5th June.

The charity is suggesting other individuals and organisations hold their own jumble or garage sales over the next few months, or create a fundraising event of their own choosing for the cause.

Money raised will be given to the World Health Organisation Foundation’s Go Give One scheme which supports COVAX, an international alliance to buy and supply vaccines to 92 lower income countries, prioritizing those who need them the most in countries that cannot afford them.
