Hut fire caused by discarded cigarette

A discarded cigarette was the cause of a fire in Niarbyl yesterday evening.

Fire crews were called after a unoccupied hut caught fire south of White Beach.

They worked through the night to extinguish the fire which is believed to be accidental.

The fire service confirmed the cause of the fire was from a discarded cigarette.

People are being reminded when having barbecues or having coastal walks and smoking to.make sure your fires and cigarettes are properly put out.
