Treasury Minister to stand in General Election

The Treasury Minister has announced he will stand for Ayre and Michael in this year's General Election.

Alfred Cannan has been a member of the House of Keys since 2011, and the minister for Treasury since the last election in 2016.

Mr Cannan said: "There remains so much to deliver in the coming years and alongside the challenges of Coronavirus, global tax, climate change, healthcare, housing, education, digitalization and pandemic recovery there are significant opportunities to build a better and more sustainable Island.

I will ask the constituents of Ayre & Michael to place their trust in me again to continue to deliver and support sound economic and fiscal policies that will support our growth and development as an Island nation

Infrastructure Minister Tim Baker, Manx National Farmers Union president Tim Johnston and Liberal Vannin Chair Paul Weatherall are also standing in the Ayre and Michael constituency.

The Isle of Man General Election will take place on 23rd September.
