The clerk of Onchan District Commissioners will be ‘absent from office’ until further notice.
Linda Radcliffe, who took up the role in November 2018, is also the authority’s chief executive.
Sources have told the Local Democracy Reporting Service Mrs Radcliffe was suspended on the grounds of misconduct amid ‘allegations of bullying’.
The Commissioners has confirmed she will not be working for the time being, but declined to comment on whether it was a legal matter.
“The chief executive officer of Onchan District Commissioners, Linda Radcliffe, will be absent from the office until further notice”, the board said in a statement.
“To comply with our duty of confidentiality, no further details will be given at this time.”
Mrs Radcliffe replaced Michael Morrison, who was sacked in 2017 before an employment tribunal was settled out of court.
