Firefighters tackle gorse fire

Firefighters tackled a gorse fire in Colby yesterday afternoon.

Crews from Rushen, Castletown, and Douglas crews were called to the incident at Ballakilpheric.

Initial information suggested the fire spanning an area of approximately 1 acre was spreading to a nearby tractor,  crews quickly prevented the fire from spreading further using high-pressure hose reels, beaters, and Aqua packs.    

Crews were in attendance for approximately 3 hours damping down hot spots.
