Covid-19 briefing this evening

The Manx Government will hold a Covid-19 briefing this evening at 6pm.

Chief Minister Alfred Cannan will discuss developments around the new Omicron variant.

Earlier, the Island's National Covid Response Group met along with the Council of Ministers.

Yesterday, the UK Prime Minister announced further restrictions would be re-introduced including face masks in shops and public transport.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Friday that the new variant was "of concern".

South African Health Minister Mathume Phaahla asid on Friday that the reaction of the UK and other countries in Europe to the Covid-19 variant found in South Africa was 'unjustified'.
