Rates to increase to 7.5% in Arbory and Rushen
Tue, 01 Feb 2022
Residents in Arbory and Rushen will see rates increase to 7.5% from this year.
Commissioners concluded that an increase of 11p in the parishes’ rate from April is necessary.
This will mean the rate will increase from 1.36 to 1.47 pence in the pound.
David Radcliffe, Chairman of the Board stated “even though the authority is the second largest in the south it’s rate remains the lowest by a significant margin. The Board has taken a cautious approach to budgeting as Commissioners are acutely aware of the impact the pandemic and overall rise in the cost of living is having on rate payers’ personal finances. The Board wishes to remind ratepayers that there is the option to pay by direct debit and spread the payment over the year.”
