The Annual Commemorative Service to honour the memory of Sir William Hillary, the founder of the RNLI, will be held this Sunday at St George’s Church in Douglas, at 3.00pm.
The service which was originally scheduled for the 9 January but postponed because of Covid restrictions is to be conducted by Rev Dr Michael Brydon, Chaplain to the Bishop of Sodor & Man.
RNLI Douglas Patron, His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor, Lieutenant General Sir John Lorimer KCB DSO MBE, accompanied by Lady Lorimer, will be attending the Service and will lay a wreath on the tomb of Sir William & Lady Hillary in St George’s Churchyard after the service.
The Crew and Committee of the Douglas Station extend an invitation to all supporters of the RNLI lifeboat service to be with them on this occasion, and afterwards in the South Douglas Old Friends Association premises in Finch Road where light refreshments will be served.
