The Department of Education, Sport and Culture has committed to underwrite operational costs of regional swimming pools for the next 12 months.

 

The future of community pools has been uncertain, as energy costs continue to rise.

 

This came with the announcement that an external body will be engaged to conduct a review into the island’s swimming pool provision.

 

Minister Julie Edge has previously said it’s the responsibility of pool boards, made up of district local authority members to ensure overheads are covered; so what has changed?
