The Hallé return to the Isle of Man with special guests

Thu, 14 Apr 2022

Manchester’s world famous Hallé will perform on the Island this summer.

Isle of Man Arts Council announced the performance at the Villa Marina will take place on Saturday 23rd July.

After the successful sell-out performance in 2017, the Hallé return with Music Director and Conductor Sir Mark Elder and guest soloist Benjamin Grosvenor.

With a programme including Musgrave and Sibelius, the evening also includes Benjamin Grosvenor performing Beethoven’s monumental Piano Concerto No.4 in G Major. Benjamin has been heralded one of the most important pianists to emerge from the UK in several decades and is internationally recognized for his sonorous lyricism and understated brilliance at the keyboard. His virtuosic interpretations are underpinned by a unique balance of technical mastery and intense musicality. Benjamin joined the Hallé at the 2021 Proms performing the Beethoven Piano Concerto Number 4.

Recent and forthcoming highlights for Benjamin include engagements with the Chicago, Baltimore and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestras, Philharmonia Orchestra, Scottish Chamber, Hamburg Staatsorchester, City of Birmingham and Symphony Orchestra.

The Saturday evening concert forms part of a weekend of entertainment and education by the Isle of Man Arts Council. Sunday afternoon opens the Royal Hall to the Hallé Come and Play scheme, allowing school children of all ages to take part in a concert with the famous orchestra.
