Fire crews tackle lineside fires

Firefighters tackled a serious lineside fires over the weekend.

Crews from Douglas and Castletown were called out to a number of railway embankment fires.

They worked with a number of railway staff to extinguish the fires and prevent further spread.

The fire service has issued advice if you spot a grass fire:

  • Move to a safe place and call 999 straight away.
  •  
  • Give us as much information as possible. This can include the terrain, size of fire, road name or location.
  •  
  • Most importantly, do NOT tackle the fire yourself-you could end up injured or worse.
