Work progressing on Laxey River Flood Alleviation Works

Construction work has started on builing a new riverside wall in Laxey.

The Department of Infrastructure said the work on Glen Road is being done with the consent of the DEFA rivers team.

The work will include:
• Construction of a new riverside wall from the Gretch Veg outlet (by Laxey Football Club) down to a point adjacent to the basketball and tennis courts
• Completion of work on the outfall of Gretch Veg (including stone facings)
• Completion of the outfall of the Minorca Hill surface water drainage system
• Removal of vegetation from existing walls

River works will be completed before the end of September.
