An Onchan commissioner wants elderly people to make use of the warm spaces that are being set up around the Island.

David Quirk, who is also chair of the Onchan Pensioners Social Club, said: “Onchan Commissioners are in the best position to coordinate warm spaces around the village.

“Churches and other organisations could get the community to come together to help organise.”

Onchan Commissioners are looking at providing tea and coffee in the library and also opening up The Hub for a hot meal for the elderly residents.

Local authorities and organisations are eligible to apply to the Manx Lottery Trust for a grant to cover costs such as food and transport.
