Council rejects call to return to weekly rubbish disposal

Douglas North MHK David Ashford says fortnightly bin collections in Douglas has had a "major impact" on residents in the capital.

Mr Ashford has called for Douglas Council to reverse the policy introduced in September.

In a open letter, Mr Ashford said the move has angered some ratepayers and resulted in some streets being "littered with rubbish".

The council has rejected the call from Mr Ashford.

Douglas Council leader Claire Wells claims recycling rates had increased from 5% to 15% since September.
