Demolition of the Pulrose Pavilion changing rooms has been targeted for the New Year.
This was announced at Douglas Council’s December public meeting.
Councillor Andrew Bentley said: “The target is to have the building demolished before the end of the current financial year.
“There is a delay due to the need to use an electric supply from the old building to the temporary changing rooms.
“An application has been made to MUA and awaiting dates for the supply to be installed in temporary buildings.
“The demolition can only commence once this supply is in place.”
The council owns the building and is currently looking into funding for the new development.
Three clubs use the Springfield Road site – Pulrose Athletic, Douglas Athletic and Douglas and District.
A second question was submitted, by Councillor John Skinner, in regards to the cost of funding the project and whether a grant had been received from the Football Association or Football Foundation.
Councillor Bentley confirmed “None. The council has received positive indications but no confirmation or guarantees.
“The success of the council’s application for funding will not be known until an application has been submitted and considered by the Football Foundation.”
The council has to apply for funding for the changing rooms due to the fact that it owns the facility.
