Thu, 16 Feb 2023
A weapons amnesty on the Isle of Man saw over 112 firearms handed into police.
The scheme allowed people to hand in unlicensed firearms and and other weapons.
The items, collected over a period of 3 weeks, included 44 handguns, 21 shotguns, 73 knives and 4 throwing stars.
Chief Inspector Danny Rotchell said: “We want to thank the public for their cooperation and engagement in allowing these items to be disposed of in a safe and responsible manner."
"The Isle of Man is a safe place to live and visit, and this weapons surrender is not suggesting anything other than that. This Surrender ensures the island remains a safe place to be.”
