The Manx Govenment has made a u-turn regarding a decision to close Sulby Claddagh during the Isle of Man TT Races.
It had planned to close the area for overnight camping saying it is running at a ‘significant loss’.
A statement from the Manx Government said: "Following Wednesday's public meeting and consultation with local MHKs, overnight stays at the Sulby Claddagh will permitted during the busy TT period.
The interim solution will be put in place to help address the concerns of some residents, local business owners and MHKs and support local retailers and hospitality businesses.
It means people should be able to stay overnight in a tent, or motorhome, between 22 May to 18 June, and further details will be announced in due course. Further work will also be undertaken to seek to provide a financially viable solution for the whole summer season.
A consultation to gather public views on cost neutral future options for the common land will be launched by DEFA in the coming weeks, with people encouraged to share their views."
