Vishing scam impersonating Amazon

A warning has been issued about reports of a circulating vishing scam where scammers are impersonating Amazon.

Isle of Man Office of Cyber Security and Information Assurance said the automated call encourages residents to press a number and connect to another service. The calls purport to originate from a Manx number (identified using the 1471 service); this is not true, and scammers are spoofing Manx numbers in an attempt to add legitimacy to communications.

Although in this instance the call relates to Amazon, calls of this nature happen year round and use different companies or organisations in an attempt to acquire sensitive information.
