A Freedom of Information request has revealed £1.9m was paid out by the taxpayer in the past year to those leaving government jobs on the Island for reasons including redundancy and severance.
Settlement agreements were made for 27 people who have signed off already this year.
The figures also showed a total of more than £9.8m had been paid over the past five years.
Cabinet Officer Minister Kate-Lord Brennan said: “The Public Services Commission is actively working on a policy which will provide guidance to Accounting Officers of Government Departments and the Office of Human Resources, as to the use and approval process required for all conciliated settlement agreements.
“I will continue to work with the Public Services Commission, Senior Officers in Government and the Council of Ministers to ensure that a number of initiatives, including the creation of an Operational Performance Board to bring more rigour to staffing management across Government.”
