Fire crews responded to a building fire in Douglas earlier.
Crews responded to reports of an automatic fire alarm operating at a property on Mona Drive.
During an initial search of the exterior, crews identified smoke issuing from the rear of a ground floor flat. On this discovery, additional resources were requested from Douglas station and a breathing apparatus team entered to carry out a search of the flat.
Using thermal imaging equipment the team located a small fire in the front room of the flat which they extinguished using a high pressure hosereel and confirmed no persons were inside.
In total, 3 major appliances from Douglas station and the duty officer attended.
The early warning provided by the fire alarm system and the resulting quick action by crews resulted in minimal fire damage to the property.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause which is not thought to be malicious.
