University College Isle of Man (UCM) held an open meeting at its campus to discuss “future training opportunities" to support the Adult Care sector.
Vice Principal of UCM, Joanne Richardson and Head of Faculty for Wellbeing, Karen Davies were in attendance at the event and met with employers and managers from the Adult Care sector.
According to UCM, “sector representatives had an opportunity to share their thoughts on what training and skills are required to continue to support the sector, as well as consulting on modes of study and areas to improve upon for the future”.
Davies said: “The Adult Care Sector is a valuable asset to the Island, and caring for the vulnerable takes empathy, patience and confidence, so it’s vital that we ensure UCM equip the right people with high quality skills and knowledge to enter into the sector or to upskill.
“Meeting with industry representatives is useful for us to ensure that we’re continuously looking at our offering, making any relevant changes and providing course content which is relevant and appropriate in preparing students for the workplace. We would like to thank everyone who attended for their time and expertise.”
